• Fonda Doña Tomasa 701 Bugambilia (upstairs) in La Crucecita. Economical Oaxacan cuisine.
• Hecho en Mexico restaurant and bar. (958) 587-1860. In Santa Cruz on Calle Mitla behind Rollo Chino Chinese Restaurant. Baja Fish Tacos and Shrimp a la Mexicana tacos. Bistek, Arrachera, Cerdo, Ensaladas, Burgers, Tortas, and Vegetarian Borracho beans. Another location in Sector T serves only meat tacos and burgers after 5pm. (1/07)
• Jarro Café Located across from the Sheraton Huatulco. They have a great breakfast; sandwiches, hamburgers, and steaks. Former home of Paco the parrot. Recommended.
• L'échalote located in Chahue, used to be “Mambo Café”. Flavors from around the world. Recommended. (1/05)
• La Pirata Pizza and Fried Chicken Located at Hotel La Marina in Santa Cruz. Good chicken.
• The market on Av. Guamachil 1/2 block from the square, has several eateries offering seafood, etc. at reasonable prices.
• Meson de las Flores Closed Found closed in Feb. 2004 - let me know if you see otherwise. Southwest corner of plaza in Santa Cruz. Fine dining, attractive décor attentive service, large menu, tablecloths, flowers, reasonable cost. Highly recommended.
• Misión Fa-Sol (958) 581-0306. in Tangolunda. Specializing in Spanish food: Paella Fa-Sol, Madrileña Style Red Snapper, Tortilla Española, Asturiano Chicken, etc.
• The Oasis is located on the southeast corner of the square in La Crucecita. (958) 587-0045. Sushi. The salads are large and good. Photo.
• Marisqueria El Pata Chacah between Bugambilia and Carrizal in La Crucecita.
• Pollo Imperial Carrizal between Guamuchil and Blvd. Chahue in La Crucecita. Superb marinated rotisserie chicken served with excellent boracho beans and macaroni salad. Inexpensive.
• Da Luig's is just across the street from 1/2 Carlos y Charlies and has great Italian food.
• Restaurante María Sabina (958) 587-0219 West side of the square in La Crucecita.
• Sabor de Oaxaca Guamuchil #204, La Crucecita, above the Hotel María Mixteca (map), specializes in the regional Oaxacan cuisine (menu). Well-liked, recommended.
• Restaurante Santa Clara Located in the residential area in Sector R, across from the hospitals. Specialties are large platters of mostly grilled meats served for groups of two or more.
• Los Portales On the corner of Calle Bugambilia and Calle Guamuchil east side of the zócalo in La Crucecita. Good tacos, popular, inexpensive.
• El Patio (formerly Tentación) across from the Oasis in La Crucecita. Seafood, steaks, good prices. (1/03)
